What is the best role for pharmacists in industry and the best way to land a role?

Mike- What is the best role for pharmacists in industry and the best way to land a role?

RPF- Pharmacists are very commonly found in a wide range of roles in pharma, especially on the post-marketing side. In terms of transferable skills, Medical Affairs functions are probably the easiest to apply traditional pharmacy knowledge and skills to, especially medical information (AKA drug info) or an MSL role in which you would be engage expert clinicians in scientific exchange. While Med Affairs is the most obvious path, you can find PharmDs everywhere from marketing to market access to regulatory and clinical development.\r\n\r\nAre you currently a student? If so, a fellowship can be one of the best ways to get in the industry. Check out our guide to getting a fellowship if you haven’t already: guide to get a pharma fellowship If you are not a student, it can be trickier to get into the industry but not impossible and once you are in you can almost always find other jobs relatively easily. Networking is important here, including with recruiters on sites like LinkedIn. I also recommend looking at CRO (contract research organization) roles, where it is sometimes easier to break in but also makes it much easier to get directly into pharma down the road. If you have specific questions on either path, happy to try to answer them :)
